catholic hymns that occasionally (unfortunately) still sometimes gets stuck in my head

  • On Eagle’s Wings (specifically the difficulty that the old ladies in the congregation would have with the first two high notes- “YOOO HOOO dwell in the shelter of the Lord…”)
  • Lord of the Dance, double forte, at a rapid pace
  • Yaweh, I Know You Are Near 
  • Be Not Afraid
  • City of God
  • Here I Am, Lord
  • I Am The Bread of Life (always made me giggle that there was a song that started, solemnly, with the words “I am the bread.”)
  • Crown Him with Many Crowns
  • the litany of Saints (this happened today. I blame the NPR mentions of Kateri Tekakwitha.)

You’d be surprised how often church hymns are stuck in my head.  Also, by how often I sing them to my cat.
